I’ve been meaning to write a little review about our Easter egg hunt for a week now but things have gotten quite busy over here… since our Animal Rescue is gaining traction in recognition in our community, we are being contacted more frequently asking for help! We’ve been playing catch up for a week now , doing our best to help everyone – which we’re happy to do but it’s time consuming and leaves little time to blog. But we do want to update you, here is a bit of what’s going on:

We were contacted about a bearded dragon , Dragòn, who was about to be released in the wild but was rescued by a sweet bystander. They reached out to us and asked us to help but them being in San Antonio, we had hire a transport to meet them halfway to pick this baby up. He has since been taken in with us and adjusting to being properly cared for!

We indebted ourselves in an incubator to help future babies in need and it didn’t take too long before we filled it. We were contacted by a local animal sanctuary who needed some help getting these babies cared for while so young and fragile. We’ll share more about these babies in the next post.

Now about our Easter egg hunt: It was a hit!! We were sooo excited about the attendance of our egg hunt, it was humbling! We met so many kids interested in learning more about the proper care for these reptiles that are gaining so much popularity these days. While we are currently doing more rescuing than advocating, pretty soon we’d like to host more advocate events where we educate our community about all that it entails to have a pet and properly care for them. There’s all kinds of misinformation out there and it can be overwhelming when you’re new to having a certain pet. We want to serve as a first stop for anyone wanting to learn more about wether or not a certain pet is a good fit for them and their family. Maybe that’ll avoid any future pets being neglected and sick and needing us to rescue and rehabilitate them. I think that with proper education, we can help so many more animals thrive and not just survive!

One thing I will say is : filling 1,000 eggs is A. LOT. OF. WORK.
I don’t think that I wrapped my head around how much work it would take when we first started planning this egg hunt. And then we go on and decide to take on some yards to get more donations as an “Egg your Yard” fundraiser the night before Easter. It was fun but it was a lot ! Lol

Welp- it’s time to go feed some more kittens but thank you for reading our eventful updates!
