Martín is a leopard gecko that came to us from an ally that works at a reptile store. We were contacted about taking in a blind gecko that was abandoned by his owner. When the roommates found Martín in his glass enclosure, it was dropped and his eyes were damaged. He was then surrendered and abandoned once again… keep reading , you’re not going to want to miss this story!

Before he came to us, our ally was doing her best to make Martín comfortable and teaching him how to eat off of tongs now that his eyes were damaged. But having other reptiles to tend to, they trusted us to take him in and give him the extra TLC he deserves !

Our first step when we take in a surrendered baby is to do an overall wellness check on them. Usually they’re simply malnourished and we make a plan to feed them appropriately. In this case, it was more dire than that. It was Martín’s vision that was our main concern!

His life had been turned upside down in the blink of an eye… and we were horrified that he had to endure what he did over negligence. It’s simply not fair!

Our friends at Wild Peach Vet Clinic allowed us to bring in Martín as soon he came to us and they made the grandest discovery: HE IS NOT BLIND!!!

Dr. Amanda discovered that he had several bad sheds and he had his previous shed skin stuck inside of his eyes! I never thought I’d be jumping for joy over something stuck in an eye until now!! We were truly so happy that his vision wasn’t permanently damaged !

Your donations make it possible for us to continue to help critters like Martín ! Thank you!
